Javea

Javea (more correctly Jávea or Xàbia in the Valencian language) is often described as the jewel in the crown of the Costa Blanca. I know that fans of Moraira, Altea and Alfaz/Albir would disagree but the reality is that for the past thirty years the town has attracted considerable numbers of tourists and many have gone on to buy property here. It is a very popular retirement destination for thousands of North Europeans who live happily alongside the growing local population.

The town can loosely be divided into three areas …. the charming old town, the port area and the beautiful beach area. Here you will find the famous Parador Hotel literally yards from the water’s edge. This is just one of several quality hotels and apart from the high end establishments, there is a range of hotel’s to suit everyone’s budget. Note that the town is very popular with Spanish tourists too so the hotels can become very full and more expensive between July and mid September.

There is always something to do around Javea. Whether it is a fiesta, a play in the English language or an organised walk in the surrounding mountains, your diary can be as full or as empty as you like. Local towns such as Calpe, Moraira, Altea or Benidorm to teh south and Gandia and Oliva also have full calendars. The regional capitals are Alicante with its famous castle and charming marina/port and Spain’s third city, Valencia. Culture, sport and nature are yours in or near Javea.

One of the reasons for its appeal is its excellent communciations with the motorway network minutes away and both Alicante and Valencia Airports about a one hour drive. Local, regional and national buses add to the mix. It has an excellent infrastructure with quality schools and a highly recommended local hospital and an excellent range of restaurants at all price points. There is an English-language church and an English-language theatre group.

If you are looking to purchase or rent a property in the area, I can recommend Sunset for a professional response to all your enquiries. They also have an innovative Rent to Buy sister company which does what its name suggests. It specialises in properties that are marketed on a Rent to Buy basis.

Whether you come to Javea on business or pleasure, to study, travel or reside, I am sure you will also be attracted by this vibrant town. Enjoy!
